Product Description
Description:
The ultimate maintenance and repair steel electrode for welding steels with the highest strength and maximum ductility (AC/DC). This electrode type i¬Ãs considered the maintenance and repair stand-by in every industry throughout the world.
Typical Application:
Assures non-cracking welds on problem steels such as high carbon, tool, stainless, spring, manganese and dissimilar steels. MS3000 is particularly advantageous when the alloy content of the steel to be welded is unknown. This unique electrode is so versatile that its applications are too numerous to specify.
Features:
- Tensile strength - Up to 120,000 psi
- Yield strength - Up to 85,000 psi
- Ductility - Up to 35% elongation in 2
- Reduction of area - 30%
- Charpy V notch - 75 ft/lb. @ room temperature
- Rockwell B hardness - 93 - 102 HRB
- Brinell hardness - 200 - 300 HB
- Frictional resistance - Excellent
- Abrasive resistance - Mild
- Will not respond to heat treatment
- All position, except vertical down
- 3/32" electrode is 9" long
- 1/8" electrode is 14" long
Procedure:
- Use either AC or DC reverse polarity
- Clean weld area
- Bevel heavy sections
- For high carbon steels, a preheat of 400°F is recommended
- Hold a short arc
- Run stringer beads
- Peening will help relieve stresses
- Let each pass cool and slag will peel off easily
